I purchased on the 18th of December 2018, $18 USD which converted to £14.84 GBP (my local currancy), I'm aware that not exactly early in the project but I'm sure other people backed you a lot early for a similar price and it's close enough to the £14.99 full price. But then on release day you discount on Steam to £12.74.

I realise that you are discounting to gather sales and interest. But without this financial investment would you have got this far? Or so soon? I think indie developers forget that people paying for Early Access are taking 100% of the risk. If an EA game fails we don't get our money back, it's gone, the developer spent it.

It's also the case that we imagine that by buying direct from the developers that you get more of the profits as a 3rd party (like Steam) aren't taking any commission. By that token are giving you more support by coming direct.

Although we're happy to take this risk, it's a little insulting that even though backers took that risk on you, and in some case acted as unpaid Beta Testers, the people on the side lines get the rewards of a 15% discount. It's not a case of the money, I'm a well paid software developer and £2 isn't even a cup of coffee. It's the element of fairness and trust.

As a company you can't buy trust, you earn it. I, and anyone with an ounce of logic, will look at this and think "Why should I take this risk again?"

To be honest, they took a few days to sort my issues. Plus, after paying top price only to have it discounted on release I wish I'd just waited. I won't be buying EA software off these guys again. You get nothing for early support, only the guys sitting back for release get the discounts

Only fair to give an update:

The issue has been resolved by support. Apparently a "hiccup" in the system didn't attach my email to my purchase (despite me originally getting an email from them?). Anyway, 3 days of email later I have a Steam key.

And update to this issue:

I also emailed itch-io support with this and received a reply from them stating

"We're not showing any purchases linked to this email"

The email I sent to support was the same address as on my account, so I'm at a loss a to why they wouldn't be able to find this, especially since they originally sent an email to the same address stating that my Meeple Station steam key on this account was ready (eg It proves in my mind that there systems are reporting correctly). I have sent them the invoice for the purchase from their systems as well as the paypal transaction id.

Just to recap: Itch.io are sending me e-mails to my address without issue (An automatic one stating I have a key, an email when I had to verify my account and another from their support team). However emails from their system which actually provides the key isn't and isn't in my spam folder. Their support teams current approach is by claiming that I've not paid $18 for the software.

Meeple Station community · Created a new topic Steam Key

Hi,

I've got an email stating that my Steam key is available with a link. The link takes me to my account here with a button to "Get Steam Key". I pressed the button and it took me to the Steam page for me to login (which I did) to link my Steam account with itch.io. I checked with my Steam client and Meeple wasn't added.

I returned to the Itch.io account page and pressed the "Get Steam Key" button again, this time it opened a pop up saying

"You're almost there, we need to verify you own the email you used for the purchase, . Click to send a confirmation email that will let you access your Steam key"

No e-mail arrives (also checked my spam folder). I've tried this a few times and nothing arrives.

Just to make sure I've checked my e-mail on my itch.io account and it is correct and it also shows that my Steam account is correctly linked.

Any help would be appreciated
